On the passage of the treatise from "These two noble ones" to "differentiated by the name 'attained through view'": This explains the names of the two persons. Because faith is predominant, one is called 'liberated by faith'; because view is predominant, one is called 'attained through view'. The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "Those of dull faculties were previously called 'followers by faith' and are now called 'liberated by faith' because, through the predominant power of faith, their resolute resolve becomes manifest (because understanding is produced from another, they are of dull faculties; when their understanding advances and reaches the fruit, they are then called 'liberated'). Those of sharp faculties were previously called 'followers by Dharma' and are now called 'attained through view' because right view becomes manifest (by opening the scriptures they generate understanding; seeing first and later arriving at the fruit, they are therefore called 'attained through view')."
