論「相續齊此至第四日瘧」，答也。《婆沙》云「如七步蛇，四大力故不減七步，由毒力故不越七步。」第四日瘧者，即隔日瘧。

The treatise says, "The mental continuity is limited to this... quartan malaria." This is the answer. The *Vibhāṣā* states: "Just as with a seven-pace viper, due to the power of the four great elements it does not fall short of seven paces, and due to the power of the venom it does not exceed seven paces." "Quartan malaria" refers to malaria that recurs every other day.
