23.63

論「決謂決斷至四諦相故」，答決擇名也。由諸聖道能斷疑故，名為決斷。以能分別四諦相故，名為簡擇。即諸聖道名決擇也。

The treatise says: "'Penetration' means decisive severance ... because of the characteristics of the four truths." This answers regarding the name 'penetration' (nirvedha). Because all noble paths are able to sever doubt, it is called decisive severance. Because they are able to distinguish the characteristics of the four truths, it is called analytical discernment. Thus all noble paths are called penetration.
