23.84

論「若無障礙至行相同故」，答。定得涅槃，二種雖同，近遠異也。順解脫分極疾，第三生得聖。順決擇極疾，即此生得。《正理論》云「是等引地勝善根故（解云：解脫分是散地善，此是定善與散異）。」

On the Śāstra's statement: "If there are no obstacles [...] because their modes of activity are the same": this is the answer. Although the definite attainment of nirvāṇa is the same for both, they differ in proximity and distance. The aids conducive to liberation are at the fastest attained in the third birth by an ārya. The aids conducive to penetration are at the fastest attained in this very birth. The Nyāyānusāra states: "Because they are superior roots of goodness of the equipoised bhūmis (Explanation: The aids conducive to liberation are goods of uncollected bhūmis; these are meditative goods, differing from the uncollected)."
