24.210

論「且無色中至能得見道」，答所以也。夫見道者必因聞教，及先緣欲界苦等。無色界身不能聞教，不緣下故，不依彼身起見道也。色界異生，一著勝樂故、二無苦受，不生厭心故，不能起見道，見道必因厭心起故。

On the passage of the treatise from “First, in the formless realm ... up to ‘is able to attain the path of seeing’”: this answers with the reasons. The path of seeing necessarily relies on hearing the teaching and first taking the suffering, etc., of the desire realm as an object. A body of the formless realm cannot hear the teaching, and because it does not take lower [realms] as an object, the path of seeing does not arise relying on that body. As for ordinary persons in the form realm: first, because they are attached to supreme pleasure; second, because they lack painful feeling, so a mind of revulsion does not arise; therefore they cannot arouse the path of seeing, for the path of seeing necessarily arises dependent on a mind of revulsion.
