論「斷欲修斷至隨應現修」，明欲等行修。文中有四：斷欲修斷第九解脫，第一例也；斷上七地諸解脫道，第二例也；斷欲修斷第九勝進斷上八地諸加行道，第三例也，此亦行修是同，故同明也；斷上七地有頂八品諸勝進道，第四例也。先修他心容現前故，加他心智。此上四例行修不同，如應可解。

The passage of the śāstra from “Abandoning what is to be abandoned through cultivation in desire” up to “is presently cultivated according to applicability” explains cultivation through activity for desire, etc. In the text there are four [cases]: abandoning what is to be abandoned through cultivation in desire in the ninth liberation path is the first paradigm; all liberation paths abandoning the upper seven stages are the second paradigm; the ninth distinguished path abandoning what is to be abandoned through cultivation in desire, together with all preparatory paths abandoning the upper eight stages, is the third paradigm—because their cultivation through activity is the same, they are explained together; all distinguished paths of the upper seven stages and the eight grades of the peak of existence are the fourth paradigm. Because knowledge of another's mind was previously cultivated and may presently manifest, knowledge of another's mind is added. The cultivations through activity in these four paradigms above differ, which may be understood according to applicability.
