27.35

論「或諸弟子至非奇特故」，第二釋也。謂諸弟子本是隨屬如來，不是隨屬聲聞。於如來有順、違、俱，不生歡、戚，可謂希奇。既本不屬聲聞，於聲聞有順、違、俱，不生歡、戚，非希奇也。

On the Śāstra's 'Or because the disciples... it is not extraordinary': this is the second explanation. That is, all disciples originally follow and belong to the Tathāgata; they do not follow and belong to the śrāvakas. That [the Buddha] gives rise to neither joy nor sorrow when they are compliant, rebellious, or both toward the Tathāgata may be called extraordinary. Since they originally do not belong to the śrāvakas, that [the śrāvakas] do not give rise to joy or sorrow when they are compliant, rebellious, or both toward the śrāvakas is not extraordinary.
