論「無色近分亦緣下地，彼無間道必緣下故」，言亦緣下者，顯近分中亦緣上也。

[On] the śāstra's: "The preparatory stage (sāmantaka) of the formless also takes lower stages as objects, for its path of immediate interval (ānantaryamārga) must take the lower as an object": In saying 'also takes lower stages as objects', it reveals that within the preparatory stage it also takes the higher as an object.
