「論曰至未離下怖故」，述近分通八地，及唯捨相應所以也。

[On] the śāstra's: "The text says ... because one has not yet parted from the fear of the lower": This explains that the preparatory stages extend across eight stages, and the reason why they are associated solely with equanimity (upekṣā).
