29.175

論「經說執我至不能清淨」，又引經證執我五失也。一謂起我見，乃至越路而行；二於空性中心不悟入；三不能淨信；四不能安住；五不得解脫。由此五失，諸聖法於彼不能清淨。

The treatise says: "The sūtra says that clinging to a self... cannot become pure." This again cites scripture to prove the five faults of clinging to a self: first, giving rise to the view of self, leading to straying from the path; second, the mind failing to comprehend emptiness; third, the inability to have pure faith; fourth, the inability to dwell in tranquility; fifth, the inability to attain liberation. Due to these five faults, the noble phenomena cannot become pure in such a person.
