論「有為皆有住至後必異前」，論主釋也。有為法有異相故，後識不可定似於前也。

On the Śāstra's statement: "Conditioned phenomena all have abiding-[and-decay] [...] the subsequent must differ from the prior": This is the author of the treatise's explanation. Because conditioned phenomena possess the characteristic of alteration (decay), the subsequent consciousness cannot be invariably similar to the prior.
