論「謂從憶念至類此應思」，論主釋。勝因展轉起用，名為作者。外道執我，此中無用，故非作者。

On the Śāstra's statement, "Namely, from recollection... one should consider other cases analogously": the author of the Śāstra explains. The superior causes successively exerting their functions is termed the 'agent'. The non-Buddhist posits a self, but here it has no function; therefore it is not the agent.
