30.33

論「若補特伽羅至命者即身」，犢子部難也。若不如我宗別有我者，謂即五蘊名命者等。世尊答外道問，何不記言命者即身？

On the Śāstra's statement: "If the pudgala [...] the soul is identical to the body": The Vātsīputrīya objects. If it is not as our school says, that there is a separate self, but rather that the five aggregates themselves are called the 'soul' and so forth, why did the World-Honoured One, in answering the non-Buddhist's question, not declare that the soul is identical to the body?
