論「如何異心至有憶念理」，彼宗難也。前心、後心別，後心憶念前心境。天授、祠授兩心別，祠授能憶天授之心境。
On the Śāstra's: "How can a different mind ... have the principle of memory?": That school objects. The earlier mind and the later mind are distinct, yet the later mind remembers the object of the earlier mind. The two minds of Devadatta and Yajñadatta are distinct; could Yajñadatta remember the mental object of Devadatta?
