論「謂金剛等至而見相似」，經部答也。如金剛等極堅之物，前後相同而有擲、未擲異，及強力擲去速墮遲、弱力擲去遲墮速，時不同也。雖有不同，金剛本相前後相似。大種雖復前後相似，轉變差別，其義亦成。亦餘諸行例亦如是，相雖相似，轉變義成。

On the treatise passage: "It means that regarding diamonds and the like … yet are seen to be similar": the Sautrāntika replies. With extremely hard substances like a diamond, although preceding and succeeding appear identical, there are distinctions between being hurled and not being hurled; and between being hurled with great force, where it travels fast and falls late, and being hurled with weak force, where it travels slowly and falls early; the times are different. Though there are differences, the diamond's original characteristic remains similar before and after. Even though the great elements are similar before and after, the meaning of transformational distinction is still established. The same principle applies to all other conditioned forces: though their characteristics are similar, the sense of transformation is established.
