"The Treatise says... it is an effect of maturation": This explains the locus, function, and so forth of non-conception. "If born among the gods of non-conception": This clarifies its locus. "There is a dharma capable of causing the mind and mental factors to cease": This indicates its substantial nature through its function. "It is called non-conception": This establishes its name. "It is a real entity": This clarifies whether it is nominal or real. "It can obstruct future minds and mental factors, preventing them temporarily from arising": This clarifies the time of cessation. "Like a dam across a river": This gives an analogy to illustrate it. "This dharma is exclusively an effect of maturation": This clarifies which of the five categories [of dharmas] it belongs to.
