論「由此善釋至更無所有」，引經證也。故經說喻言如燈焰，涅槃心解脫亦爾。此經意說如燈涅槃，唯燈焰謝，無別有物，如經說佛此夜滅度。

On the Śāstra's statement, "Because of this it is well explained… there is nothing further whatsoever": This cites a sūtra as proof. Thus a sūtra presents a simile, saying that just as with the flame of a lamp, so it is with the liberation of the mind in nirvāṇa. The intent of this sūtra is to say that just as in the extinction of a lamp, only the lamp's flame perishes and there is no separate existing thing, so it is when the sūtra says that the Buddha passed into extinction this night.
