論「前已總說至云何十二」，已下重明等無間緣。於中有三：初明廣心、二明三種作意、三明得心多少。此第一明廣心。就中有二：一明十二心出入、後明二十心出入。此明十二心出入也。初一頌明總成十二，後四頌明相出入也。

The treatise says: "Previously it was explained in general... how are there twelve?" From here below, the immediate condition is re-explained. Within this there are three parts: first, explaining the detailed minds; second, explaining the three kinds of mental engagement; third, explaining how many minds are acquired. This first part explains the detailed minds. Within this there are two: first, explaining the transition among the twelve minds; second, explaining the transition among the twenty minds. Here it explains the transition among the twelve minds. The first verse explains the collective twelve, and the following four verses explain their mutual transitions.
