7.24

論「由佛比類至故非比智」，釋也。雖比過去知其未來，是現證知。非如見烟知火而不見火，如見其烟，尋烟見火。

On the Śāstra's statement: "Due to the Buddha's inference … therefore it is not inferential cognition": this is the explanation. Although he knows the future by inferring from the past, it is direct perceptual knowledge. It is not like seeing smoke and inferring fire without seeing the fire; it is like seeing the smoke, following the smoke, and seeing the fire.
