論「云何卵生至鸚鵡雁等」，釋卵生也。依卵而生名為卵生。卵必有胎，是故先說。
The Śāstra says: "What is egg-born? [...] parrots, wild geese, and so forth." This explains egg-born. That which is born relying on an egg is called egg-born. An egg must have a womb, which is why it is spoken of first.
