論「且前所說至經義相違」，經部答也。「經言云何無明，謂前際無知」，經現唯說無知，如何總取五蘊？此經是了義說，不可令成不了義。意說不是五蘊，但是無明。

On the Śāstra's statement: 'First, what was said previously, up to: contradicts the meaning of the sūtra': the Sautrāntikas reply. 'The sūtra says: What is ignorance? It refers to unknowing regarding the past limit.' The sūtra explicitly states only unknowing; how can you include all five aggregates as a whole? This sūtra is a definitive teaching (nītārtha) and must not be made into an interpretable teaching (neyārtha). The meaning is that it is not the five aggregates, but solely ignorance.
