18.7

On the Śāstra's statement, 'If so, what is the essential nature of the schism of the Saṃgha?': From here below is the second part, clarifying the essential nature of the schism of the Saṃgha. Within it are five parts: 1. the essential nature of the schism of the Saṃgha and the persons who accomplish it; 2. the time and place in which the schismatic act succeeds; 3. the completion of causing a schism through possessing the necessary conditions; 4. the distinction between the two kinds of schism in the Saṃgha; 5. the periods during which there is no schism of the wheel of Dharma. This single stanza is the first, clarifying the schism of the Saṃgha and the persons who accomplish it.
