從此第二，十八界不成妨者，難前問起。論云：「若爾，實界應唯十二；或應十七，六識與意更相攝故。何緣得立十八界耶？」頌曰：
From here, the second [part], the objection regarding the non-establishment of the eighteen elements, raises a question following from the preceding. The treatise says: "If so, the real elements should be only twelve; or they should be seventeen, because the six consciousnesses and the mind subsume each other. For what reason can eighteen elements be established?" The verse says:
