四自一上緣者，三、四靜慮緣自境四，謂捨緣四境，除香、味二也。一上緣者，一緣無色，謂法近行。
Regarding "four their own, and one cognizing the higher": the third and fourth dhyānas cognizing their own realm have four: equanimity cognizing four objects, excluding the two of smell and taste. "One cognizing the higher" means one cognizing the formless realm: the exploration of dharmas.
