Explanation: Regarding the threefold generation of desires: First is depending on experiencing sensory objects of desire that appear present according to their birth; that is, sentient beings take pleasure in experiencing the present exquisite objects of desire, and they act with mastery amid such present objects of desire, namely the entirety of the human destiny and the lower four heavenly realms. Second is depending on experiencing exquisite objects of desire created by themselves according to their pleasure; there are sentient beings who take pleasure in experiencing exquisite objects of desire created by themselves, and they act with mastery amid the exquisite objects of desire created by themselves, namely only the fifth heaven of Nirmāṇarati. Third is depending on experiencing exquisite objects of desire created by others according to their pleasure; that is, sentient beings take pleasure in experiencing exquisite objects of desire created by others, and they act with mastery amid the exquisite objects of desire created by others, namely only the sixth heaven of Paranirmitavaśavartin. These aforementioned humans and gods experience birth in the desire realm; this is what is called the threefold distinction in the generation of desires.
