且明三性者，論明四因能成三性：一由勝義、二由自性、三由相應、四由等起。此中應辨何法何性？由何因成？頌曰：
First, to explain the three moral natures: the treatise explains that four causes establish the three moral natures: first, by ultimate truth; second, by intrinsic nature; third, by association; fourth, by origination. Here one should distinguish: what phenomenon is of what nature? And by what cause is it established? The verse says:
