17.75

初有三四一者，初謂見所斷業以見所斷法為三果，以修所斷法為四果，以非所斷法為一果。言三果者，除異熟及離繫。見所斷法唯染污，非異熟。言四果者，除離繫。言一果者，唯增上也。

"The first has three, four, and one": 'the first' means that karma to be abandoned by seeing has three fruits in phenomena to be abandoned by seeing, four fruits in phenomena to be abandoned by cultivation, and one fruit in phenomena not to be abandoned. The phrase 'three fruits' excludes fruition and disconnection. Phenomena to be abandoned by seeing are solely defiled, not fruition. The phrase 'four fruits' excludes disconnection. The phrase 'one fruit' is solely the dominant [fruit].
