18.56

釋曰：贍部男對佛者，修妙相業唯贍部洲人，覺慧利故。要男子身，已超女故。言對佛者，唯現對佛也。

Explanation: 'In Jambūdvīpa, as a male facing a Buddha': Cultivating the karma of the wondrous marks belongs only to humans of Jambūdvīpa, because their intelligence is sharp. It requires a male body, because he has already transcended womanhood. 'Facing a Buddha' means only in the direct presence of a Buddha.
