18.69

釋曰：但由悲普施者，明施也。若時菩薩普施一切乃至眼髓而無悋惜，但由悲心，非求勝生（人天生也），齊此布施波羅蜜多修習圓滿。

Explanation: 'Giving universally out of compassion alone' explains generosity. When the bodhisattva gave away everything universally, even his eyes and marrow, without stinginess, solely out of a mind of compassion and not seeking an exalted birth (rebirth among humans and devas), at this point the practice of the generosity pāramitā was brought to completion.
