且初第一，明六隨眠者，論云：「前言世間差別皆由業生，業由隨眠方得生長，離隨眠業，無感有能（標宗）。所以者何（徵也）？隨眠有幾（問數）？」頌曰：

First, explaining the six anusayas, the treatise says: "It was said before that the differences in the world are all born from karma; karma is able to arise and grow only through anusayas; karma separated from anusayas has no power to bring about existence (statement of thesis). Why is that (inquiry)? How many anusayas are there (asking the count)?" The verse says:
