'Mind should be understood as indeterminate': it should be known that the mind element is indeterminate with respect to four matters. That is, the mind sometimes is of the same level with all four—body, consciousness, and phenomena; and sometimes it is higher or lower. When wandering in meditative attainments and when taking rebirth, according to what is appropriate, they are either the same or different. This will be broadly distinguished in the later Chapter on Meditative Attainments. The above seven passages conclude the parenthetical discussion; next, the main treatise will be distinguished.
