2.44

聲無異熟生者，聲有二類：一則等流、二所長養。無異熟生者，夫異熟色任運而起，聲隨欲轉，有間斷故，無異熟生。

'Sound is without what is born of maturation': sound has two classes: first, outflow; second, nourished. As for being without what is born of maturation: matter born of maturation arises spontaneously, whereas sound operates according to intention and has interruption; therefore, it is not born of maturation.
