且初教理證者，薩婆多宗說有三世，經部不許，欲將破彼，今且敘宗。論云：「應略標宗，顯其理趣。」頌曰：
First, as for scriptural and rational proofs: the Sarvāstivāda school states that the three time-periods exist, while the Sautrāntikas do not accept this; intending to refute them, the tenets are now first recounted. The treatise says: "One should briefly state the tenets and reveal their rational basis." The verse says:
