21.81

釋曰：應知諸惑得永斷時，不可令其離相應法，以相近故，但可令惑遠離所緣，令彼所緣不復生故。

Explanation: One should know that when the defilements are permanently abandoned, it is impossible to cause them to be separated from their associated dharmas, because they are closely adjacent; rather, one can only cause the defilements to be far removed from their objective cognitive conditions, so that those objective cognitive conditions are no longer generated.
