此順決擇分者，標也。此煗等四名順決擇分，見、修、無學三種聖道皆名決擇。決謂決斷，能斷疑故。擇謂簡擇，謂能分別四諦相故。見道名決擇分，是決擇中一分故也。此煗等四引見道故，能順於彼，名順決擇分。

"These aids to penetration": indicating [them]. These four—heat and the rest—are called the aids to penetration (nirvedhabhāgīya). The three noble paths of vision, cultivation, and the stage beyond learning are all called "penetration" (nirvedha). "Pene-" (决) means decisive severance, because they can decisively sever doubt. "-tration" (擇) means discrimination, meaning they can distinguish the characteristics of the four truths. The path of vision is called the "penetration portion" (決擇分) because it is a portion of penetration. Because these four—heat and the rest—induce the path of vision and are capable of being in accord with it, they are called aids to penetration.
