所修智多少，皆如理應思者，此上兩句，修智多少如道理思之，謂聖起餘功德，若有學聖未離欲七、已離欲八，若無學聖鈍九、利十。其異生位，若未離欲唯世俗智，若已離欲加他心智。

[Regarding] "The number of knowledges cultivated should in all cases be properly considered": with respect to the above two lines, the number of knowledges cultivated should be considered according to reason. That is, when a noble one produces other virtues, if it is a noble śaikṣa, one not yet free from desire [cultivates] seven, and one already free from desire [cultivates] eight; if it is a noble aśaikṣa, the dull [cultivates] nine and the sharp ten. In the state of an ordinary person, if not yet free from desire, there is only conventional knowledge; if already free from desire, knowledge of others' minds is added.
