28.41

釋曰：初禪染中無離生喜樂，非離煩惱而得生故。第二染中無內等淨，煩惱濁故。第三染中無正念慧，染樂亂故。第四染中無捨念淨，煩惱染故。

Explanation: In the defiled [first] dhyāna, there is no joy and bliss born of detachment, because they are not born from the departure from defilements. In the second defiled [dhyāna], there is no internal serenity, because of the turbidity of defilement. In the third defiled [dhyāna], there are no right mindfulness and discernment, because the defiled bliss causes distraction. In the fourth defiled [dhyāna], there are no purity of equanimity and mindfulness, because of defilement by afflictions.
