且第一，明尋伺等三者，論云：「已說等至，云何等持？經說等持總有三種：一有尋有伺、二無尋唯伺、三無尋無伺，其相云何？」頌曰：
First, explaining the three such as [those with] gross investigation and subtle reflection. The treatise states: 'Absorptions have already been explained; what are the samādhis? Sūtras state that there are altogether three kinds of samādhis: first, with gross investigation and with subtle reflection; second, without gross investigation and with subtle reflection only; third, without gross investigation and without subtle reflection. What are their characteristics?' The verse states:
