29.59

釋曰：佛滅度後九百年中，世親製諸論，正法壽命漸次淪亡，如人欲終，氣臨至喉，須臾便死。於此時中煩惱增長，諸有智人應求解脫，勿令放逸起煩惱也。

The commentary explains: In the nine hundred years after the Buddha's extinction, Vasubandhu composed the treatises; the lifespan of the true Dharma was gradually perishing, like a dying person whose breath reaches the throat, on the verge of death in an instant. At this time defilements increase; wise people should seek liberation and not let negligence give rise to defilements.
