Explanation: The general principles of non-self have already been briefly spoken by me to open the poisoned-arrow entry of wisdom for the wise. Just as when the body is slightly scratched and a little poison is applied, in an instant the vapor of the poison pervades the entire body—this treatise is also like that: opening a slight gate of wisdom, all persons of wisdom are able to awaken and enter deeply; hence it is called the 'poisoned-arrow entry of wisdom'. This poisoned-arrow entry of wisdom universally exhorts people to practice, hoping that each according to the capacity of their three vehicles will fully awaken to what is to be known and definitely accomplish supreme deeds. Since its efficacy is such, how could one not study it!
