Explanation: 'Likewise is the absorption of non-conception': previously it was clarified that non-conception brings about the cessation of mind and mental factors and possesses a real intrinsic nature. Likewise, there is another entity, a conditioning factor disassociated from thought, that brings about the cessation of mind and mental factors, called the absorption of non-conception. In terms of their similarity in ceasing the mind, it is called 'likewise'. The absorption of one who is without conception is called the absorption of non-conception; or the absorption that is itself non-conception is called the absorption of non-conception. The words 'one who is without conception' refers to the nominal person. The nominal person is the person cultivating non-conception. Because the person cultivating non-conception accomplishes this absorption, it is called the absorption of non-conception. 'The absorption of non-conception' is a dependent determinative compound (tatpuruṣa). 'Or the absorption that is itself non-conception' means that non-conception is itself the absorption; this is an appositional compound (karmadhāraya).
