As for "telepathic knowledge, when undefiled, has only four, taking the path as object": this explains that when telepathic knowledge is undefiled, it has only four aspects, namely, taking the truth of the path as its object and forming four aspects. As for "when defiled, it takes individual characteristics as object": defiled telepathic knowledge takes the realm of individual characteristics as its object, because it takes the individual characteristics of mind and mental factors as its phenomena; since the object is an individual characteristic, the aspect is also an individual characteristic.
