"The knowledge of phenomena on six; the remaining seven on nine": the knowledge of phenomena relies on six levels, namely the threshold, the intermediate, and the four dhyānas. The remaining seven knowledges are common to nine levels, namely the knowledges of the four truths, subsequent knowledge, the knowledge of exhaustion, and the knowledge of non-arising; these seven knowledges are common to the threshold, the intermediate, the four dhyānas, and the lower three formless levels, which are designated the nine levels.
