"The mind, the remaining feelings, faith, and so forth, each and every one extends to both" means: the mind faculty, the remaining four feelings (excluding grief), and the five faculties of faith and so forth—these ten faculties, each and every one, extend to both possessing ripening and lacking ripening. That is, for mind, pleasure, gladness, and equanimity, if they are of wholesome or unwholesome nature and tainted, they possess ripening; if they are of an unspecified nature and untainted, they lack ripening. For the suffering faculty, if it is of wholesome or unwholesome nature, it possesses ripening; if it is of an unspecified nature, it lacks ripening. For the five faculties of faith and so forth, if they are tainted, they are called possessing ripening; if they are untainted, they lack ripening. Therefore, these ten extend to both categories.
