8.31

「佛說實相有三種」下，釋第三段明緣覺得益。就文為二：一總標三種。「若得諸法實相」下，第二別釋三種次第來意，即是偈中三章。初釋第一聲聞法。「若生大悲」，釋上第二菩薩法。「若佛不出世」，釋第三緣覺法益。是青目自開偈為三也。問：三根俱入實相，云何異？答：二乘隨分，菩薩盡原也。

From “The Buddha spoke of three kinds of real marks” downward explains the third section, clarifying the pratyekabuddha's attainment of benefit. In the text there are two parts: first, a general listing of the three kinds. From “If one attains the real mark of all phenomena” downward, second, individually explaining the sequence and intention of the three kinds, which are the three sections in the verse. First, explaining the first, the śrāvaka teaching. “If great compassion arises” explains the second, the bodhisattva teaching above. “If no Buddha appears in the world” explains the third, the benefit of the pratyekabuddha teaching. This is Piṅgala himself dividing the verse into three. Question: The three faculties all enter the real mark; how are they different? Answer: The two vehicles follow according to their capacity, whereas the bodhisattva exhausts the source.
