所以分影為二者，前影色是障，日光等成影之色；後影像色，是水月為緣。於本識所，現色上有眼識所見影像色，是色處攝。若在水鏡等者，是法處攝。意識所現處，對法說。

The reason for dividing shadow into two is: the former shadow-matter is matter where obstruction of sunlight and so forth forms a shadow; the latter reflected matter is conditioned by the moon in water. In the fundamental consciousness, on the manifest matter there is the reflected matter seen by visual consciousness, which is subsumed under the form base. If it is in water, a mirror, and so forth, it is subsumed under the dharma base, where it is manifested by mental consciousness, as the Abhidharmasamuccaya explains.
