次明作業有六：一、了自境，約因位說故。二、了自相，處自相故。三、了現在，唯因非果。四、剎那，非相續，不據等流。五、隨意識轉，此即總舉。

Next, to clarify the operations, there are six: First, discerning their own objects, which is stated with reference to the causal stage. Second, discerning their own characteristics, because they abide in their own characteristics. Third, discerning the present, which is only cause, not result. Fourth, instantaneous, not continuous, which is not based on homogeneous flow. Fifth, functioning in accordance with the mental consciousness, which is a general presentation.
