In the text, it first summarizes what came before and asks about what follows, and later answers the question with an explanation. Within the explanation there are again two parts: first, distinguishing the entity of the stage by means of five gates; later, in the third fascicle, again explaining the meaning of the stage by means of ten gates. The first text again has two parts: first, an outline listing; later, distinct explanations. The text states: 'citta, manas, and vijñāna'. The explanation has two gates: first, relying on the Viniścayasaṃgrahaṇī in which the eight consciousnesses are distinguished, they are generally named citta, manas, and vijñāna; second, relying on the text of this treatise, they have specific attributions. Based on what principle are they thus attributed?
