意，謂恒行意及六識身無間滅意者，此中通明過去六識名意，非唯第七，一切皆有依止義故。

'Manas refers to the constantly functioning manas and the immediately preceding ceased manas of the six consciousness-groups': this generally explains that the past six consciousnesses are named manas, not only the seventh, because all have the meaning of being a support.
