基師云：此有一難，謂如在欲界，得色界定業力，猶微成後報業，次得無色定業，勝為生報，生無色界，受生報已，生色界中，方受後報。爾時欲界二十劫空，乃於欲界前，身死處中有，現前而色界生。

Master Ji says: There is a difficulty here. Namely, suppose that while in the desire realm, one attains the concentration of the form realm, but its karmic power is still weak and becomes karma to be experienced in subsequent lives; next, one attains the concentration of the formless realm, whose karma is superior and becomes karma to be experienced in the next life. One is born in the formless realm, and having experienced the retribution of the next life, one is born into the formless realm and only then experiences the retribution of subsequent lives. At that time, twenty kalpas of emptiness elapse in the desire realm; would the intermediate existence then appear at the place where the body previously died in the desire realm, and thereby take birth in the form realm?
